Add your signup form to Shopify.
Use a Custom Liquid section in the theme editor. You paste the form in without touching your theme’s code files, so theme updates keep working.
Which snippet to use
The inline form in a Custom Liquid section. The iframe embed works there too if you’d rather show the full branded form. Custom Liquid accepts plain HTML, so you don’t need to know Liquid.
Theme check
Shopify’s help center says: “If your theme offers a Custom Liquid section, then you might be able to add your app code into a Custom Liquid section in the theme editor instead of editing your theme code directly.” Shopify’s free Online Store 2.0 themes let you add sections to any page. Older (vintage) themes mostly allow sections only on the home page; there, use the page method further down.
This form sends people to your Hollerpost list, not to Shopify’s own email subscribers list.
Step by step (theme editor)
- Copy your inline form. In your Hollerpost dashboard, go to Audience → Signup forms, pick the form you want (or the default page), and click Copy code next to “Inline form for your website.” It looks like this:
<form method="POST" action="https://utopian-marketing-api.jmiller-580.workers.dev/api/marketing/signup/your-workspace" style="display:flex;gap:8px;max-width:420px"> <input type="hidden" name="form_id" value="your-form-id"> <input type="text" name="website" value="" style="display:none" tabindex="-1" autocomplete="off"> <input type="email" name="email" required placeholder="you@example.com" style="flex:1;padding:10px 12px;border:1px solid #ccc;border-radius:8px"> <button type="submit" style="padding:10px 16px;border:0;border-radius:8px;background:#4f46e5;color:#fff;font-weight:600"> Subscribe</button> </form>This is a placeholder. Copy yours from Audience → Signup forms in your dashboard.
- Open the theme editor. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store. Find the theme you want to edit, and click Edit theme.
- Pick the page. From the dropdown menu at the top, select the template you want the form on, like the home page.
- Add the section. Click + Add section, then select Custom Liquid. If your theme doesn’t list it, check your theme’s documentation for a custom HTML or Liquid option.
- Paste your code into the Custom Liquid section’s code field.
- Click Save, then open your store as a customer and sign up with your own email. You should show up in Audience in your dashboard.
On a single page instead
Go to Online Store → Pages, open the page (or click Add page), click Show HTML on the rich text editor, paste your code, and click Save. Shopify shows iframe embeds working this way, so use the iframe embed here. Shopify also warns that HTML in the rich text editor can cause display errors, and it tidies up HTML when you save.
<iframe src="https://utopian-marketing-api.jmiller-580.workers.dev/api/marketing/signup/your-workspace?f=your-form-id" style="width:100%;max-width:440px;height:430px;border:0;border-radius:12px" title="Signup form"></iframe>
This is a placeholder. Copy yours from Audience → Signup forms in your dashboard.
What happens when someone signs up
They land in your audience with their consent recorded (where they signed up and when), tagged signup-form plus any tags you set on the form. If the form asks for email confirmation, they join once they click the link we send them. With the inline form, the thank-you message opens on your Hollerpost signup page; with the iframe, it shows right inside the box.
If it doesn’t show up
- No Custom Liquid in the Add section list. Your theme may not have it, or you’re on a template or vintage theme that doesn’t allow sections there. Use the page method above.
- “HTML error found” or “Theme error” in the editor. Part of the snippet got cut off. Copy it again from your dashboard and paste the whole thing.
- It looks odd on phones. Switch the screen size view in the theme editor to check the mobile layout.
- The form vanished from a page. The rich text editor may have cleaned up the HTML. Paste the iframe embed instead, or use a Custom Liquid section.
