Hollerpost / How our AI works

Small-batch AI, running on hardware we own.

Most software companies rent massive data centers and mark up their AI bill before handing it to you. We built our own rig, named Helios, and it runs custom distilled models that do one job well: help small businesses write clear emails and fix setup headaches without heating up the planet.

Helios rig: online in our shop Running local 31B distilled + 4B triage models. Cloud failover (DeepSeek): 0% this week.

Meet Helios.

Helios is the machine in our shop that does the heavy lifting for Hollerpost, LezFindr, and Utopian Creations. Instead of sending every button click to a giant cloud cluster, Helios splits the work between two right-sized local models:

  • The 4B fast triage model: Tiny, quick, and sips power. It checks DNS records, maps Mailchimp spreadsheet columns, and routes support questions in less than half a second.
  • The custom distilled 31B model: A dense model we distilled specifically for small-business writing and technical troubleshooting. Because it is trained for the exact jobs Hollerpost needs instead of trying to memorize the whole internet, it runs locally on our own cards.

Why we built it this way

Smaller models, smaller footprint.

Hyperscale data centers burn megawatts of power and millions of gallons of cooling water because they fire up giant general-purpose models for every tiny question. Pairing a 4B router with a custom distilled 31B model on one local rig uses a fraction of the energy.

Your customer list stays yours.

When you draft a newsletter or import contacts on Hollerpost, your customer list is never used to train a public model. Your people signed up to hear from you, not to feed an ad network.

No middleman markup.

Because we already own the hardware, our marginal cost per draft is just the electricity to run Helios. That is why every plan includes 20 fast generations a month and unlimited standard ones at no extra cost.

What happens if our power or internet goes out?

Running real hardware in the real world means a utility pole or a fiber line can have a bad afternoon. We will never let a local outage stop you from sending your newsletter.

If Helios ever loses power or internet, and only then, Hollerpost automatically fails over to DeepSeek in the cloud until our rig comes back online. The status dot at the top of this page flips to amber so you always know where your draft is running. Even during an outage, your contact list never leaves our database: only the text prompt for your draft is sent to the backup model.
